Birthday Boy

Both boys are trying to recover from the swooping red bird that hit poppies head
Not sure what to think of his first experience with cake

Sharing some birthday cake with Poppie
Making sure everything looks good under the truck.

Checking out the new truck
First annual birthday balloon. He noticed it RIGHT away when he woke up!

It is hard to believe that our baby is ONE. I have to correct myself, because we really do not have a baby. We now officially have a toddler. A toddler that we just want to eat up every time we see him. A toddler who, even though we do not know how it is possible,  we love more and more every minute.
Jack has brought so much joy into our lives, it is hard to believe that we actually thought we knew what happiness was before he was born, because truly, it is nothing compared to the happiness we know now.
Jack is such a blessing. He is such a happy baby. He has such a good sense of humor. He makes friends with people where ever he goes. Even tough looking teenage boys practically drool over him and comment how adorable he is. His smile, that little pursed lip smile which then develops into a huge grin, melts hearts. And, he is fearless-in a good way, as well as a "I wonder how many times we will have to visit the ER before he leaves for college," kind of way.

I will try to list all of his mile stones in no particular order, and I am sure I will forget a few:
-He wants to walk so badly, and has taken up to 5 steps at a time.
-He says "hi," "uh-oh" and what we think may be "love you" (ah uoo)
-He can eat us under the table
-He can drink an entire sippy cup of water, but is more hesitant to do so with milk (we are working on phasing out the bottle)
-He loves to clap his hands, especially during the special moments when we let him watch the Badgers or Packers (hard to say if he is already a die hard fan, or if he is just excited that we are actually letting him watch TV :)
-He goes limp when he does not want to go some where (what?!? how does a 1 year old know how to do this already?)
-He loves to jump up and down in his crib and gets serious air when he does so.
-He signs more with his hands.
-He has 7 teeth, although we are pretty sure another one is on the way.
-He LOVES to read books. He will pull all of his books off his book shelf, and then sit for 15 minutes flipping through the pages. He especially loves real paper books. He is very gentle with the pages, as if he knows they are special.
-He loves playing with my hair (but I think I love it more!)
-He climbs up the slide on his climber that he got for his birthday and goes down head first (yeah, we thought that since it was for kids ages 2-6, we would get it in advance to really get our money's worth. Didn't think he would conquer it so quickly!)
-He will speed up and try to escape when he is crawling towards something he shouldn't and knows you are coming to get him.
-He has figured out if he steps on something, he can get higher. He uses everything from flashlights to Tupperware containers to get up a little higher.
-He gives the best (open mouth) kisses.
-He loves big kids-watching them, being with them, playing with them.
-He loves looking out the window and watching the world around him-bikers, kids, dogs, trucks, lawn mowers, you name it!
-He has started to dance by bouncing and bending his knees.

I could go on and on and on about this sweet boy. Not a day goes by that we don't stop to pinch ourselves in disbelief that God chose us to care for and raise this incredible boy.

We love you Jack Henry, and we can't imagine what our lives would be like without you!

11 Month pictures

Seeing as how tomorrow is Jack's birthday, we figured we better quick get his 11 month pictures up. And to be fair, they really are 11.5 month pictures. We know we have been delinquent in posts. We promise to post many pictures that have been taken during these last two crazy months.
