This past weekend we made the big move from our cozy one bedroom apartment to our new spacious two bedroom apartment. Mom and Roger came to help with the move/clean (really my mom took charge and dominated the cleaning!). They really helped make the transition so much easier.
In addition to helping out, they showered us with a couple baby gifts-precious little yellow ducky nightgowns, and this matching bath towel hoodie. We have them hanging up in Hj's closet-I absolutely love walking into the room to see baby items. Soon enough, this place will be covered in spit up, diapers, and laundry needing to be washed!
But you want to, right? You've come to THE place. We'll chronicle the smiles, laughs, stories and joy that are Jack. Welcome!

First Kicks?
Well, I am not positive, but I think I may have felt little Hj kick for the first time! As I was laying and reading a good book, I was all of the sudden interrupted by a tap in my lower right quadrant. This was followed by another little tap. The fact that I was stopped reading mid sentence by this feeling makes me think it was baby. I tried to lay really still and see if there were any more jabs, but no such luck.
Being a first time momma, I have been told that it takes a little longer to figure out that the movements are in fact baby. However, I am 17 and 5/7 weeks, and the books say usually around 16-20 weeks is when the first movements are felt. I will be on alert for any more "hello" kicks from baby. It is fun to think that even if they weren't yet truly baby movements, I will soon be feeling the little lad or lass dancing around all of the time. I think it will make it feel even more real that in 22 short weeks, Nathaniel and I will have a little side kick-for life!

“Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul” Plato
We're looking for suggestions on some good songs to include for HJ to listen to. We plan on playing music, through headphones on Liz's belly, so that HJ will have some tunes that will soothe her/him when he/she is born. We'd like a good mix of genres and feel that there is a place for all types of music. Please leave a comment with the name of the song and the performer. Thanks much.

Now accepting comments...
After spending some quality time with my family this weekend, I was alerted that visitors to our blog were not able to leave comments...what a travesty :) Well, we're happy to say that we're now open for business and look forward to reading comments, suggestions, possible names, and any advice.

For fun...
...Liz and I purchased the Intelligender Boy or Girl gender prediction test. It claims to be 80% accurate. The test results were difficult to determine, but we think we've got a pretty good idea to the sex of HJ..or no we don't. We're not going to tell what we think the results were or give clues. However, we'd like to know what you all think, so go ahead and vote using the "poll" option in the upper section of the right column. Polls are open until May 7th when we'll be able to officially use "lil' fella" or "lil' princess". Honestly, the "test" was pretty unhelpful, but fun nonetheless.
