17 month celebration!

Yesterday, in honor of his 17 month birthday, Jack went poopy on the potty! And then, today, he did it again.
He has taken a big interest in sitting on his potty, and we have randomly been placing him on the potty. I don't think that he realized what was going on, but he was pretty proud once he saw what he did.

I know we are a long way off from saying goodbye to diapers, but it is fun to think that the process has begun!

Since we are discussing 17 month milestones, here are some things that Jack has added to his repertoire:
WORDS:
Da da, momma, up, shoe, cheese, home, hot, dog, more, car, bus, ball, more, hi, bye, baby, omi (Nathanie's mom), opa (Nathaniel's dad), no, huh?, night night, bubble, butt, amen (although this he says as amnee), beep beep, onion, hot dog, wow, cheese

SIGNS:
 Thank you (this is so precious, because he keeps thanking us for EVERYTHING the past few days), more, all done, help, please.

LARGE MOTOR:
Jumps off the ground with both feet, climbs EVERYTHING, runs (especially fast when he is running away from us), kicks a ball, stomp/marches (with his right foot only)

He also loves to sit and read book, after book, after book. This week we had lots of driving, and he spent a good hour quietly looking at his books in his car seat. He loves helping us pick things up and put things away. He has also started to carry his two little monkeys and his bunny around, and insists on sleeping with them. He LOVES being outside, and loves playing chase. He is our little busibody who is ready to go "bye-bye" the moment he wakes up.

For months, Nathaniel has been itching to cut Jack's hair. The little patch of hair that every now and then would puff out (and perhaps in some circles could be viewed as a mullet), never really bothered me. But, Nathaniel could not see past it. Alas, it was time for a hair cut.
And did our little guy do great. It probably took 20 minutes, but he sat so patiently, watching in the mirror. I think he felt like such a big boy.
I must say, he looks pretty darn cute!

We went to spend some time with Opa in January. We laughed and ate yummy food, but more importantly, got our cuddle on with Opa! Jack loved chasing him around the pool table. But even more than that, he LOVED listening to Opa play the guitar and sing. Grace, Landon, and Jack could not get enough of it. The three Hedke babes are already trying to arrange their schedules so they can go on tour with him!

The boy loves to drum. Even though the drum is half of his body, he insists on carrying it around his neck. And when he does not have the drum with him, he improvises and drums his hands on anything he can find.
It is so. darn. cute.
